“It’s supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it. The hard…is what makes it great.” — Jimmy Dugan, ‘A League of Their Own’
In our culture, we’re made to believe that all the cash and prizes are at the finish line. We all want to sink the game winning shot. To be sure, the importance of success and the desire to win are respected here. It’s not just a game.
Still, there are innumerable and invaluable lessons and gifts that can be obtained on the way to our ultimate goals. The recognition of our present moment, gratitude for how we got there, and the engagement and unification of our mental, physical, and emotional faculties, allow us to perform at our highest level and cultivate strength and joy that can sustain us far longer than any single play.
Any athlete or person endeavoring to achieve great things rightly focuses their time and energy on the specific skills needed for their sport or goal. What is often overlooked is how a holistic approach that also considers the mental, emotional, and social happenings in their life might support and enhance their performance.
This is where I come in. I help athletes, coaches, and athlete-minded people (of all levels) recognize and confront hurdles and patterns in other aspects of their lives—school, work, relationships, and wherever else they might feel stuck. We’ll create awareness around these difficulties and start to connect how they might be affecting the client on and off the playing field. Together we’ll uncover and develop tools they can use to navigate and if need be conquer their different challenges.
I’ll demonstrate and encourage shifts in perspective that will broaden their outlook and open their minds to different possibilities. Together, we will see that there is always more than one way to win.
My intention is to serve as a mirror and a light—to foster consciousness and encourage seeking. When we are able to identify our wreckage, we can clean it up and make space for innovation, development, peace, joy and excellence. In other words...my clients who put in the work emerge happier, freer, and ready to kick some serious ass.
